And Let Every Day be Christmas

General — Posted on December 19, 2010 at 1:05 am

So it is that time again. Rain turns into gleaming white flakes, coating gold and auburn leaves, transforming ponds into miniature glacial landscapes. We build snow people, we skate on ice, we sip hot drinks, roast marshmallows and tell stories by the fireplace. ‘Tis the season to be jolly.

It is during this time that benevolence is at an all time high. We are aware of those who cannot afford to eat or clothe themselves for the cold, we are concerned about the children who will not have any presents to open, we greet each other more often and with greater joviality. We are model citizens during the holiday season, and it is beautiful.

It is my greatest hope that these magical moments, these timeless memories, the beautiful air of the season, does not pass as spring begins. It is not during the Christmas season only that we should be concerned about whether or not our neighbor eats, or a child freezes, or an elder is alone, or if a stranger does not have a roof over their head. It is not only during this time that we should be creating beautiful, lasting memories with the ones we love. These qualities, this benevolence, should be never-ending.

Let every day be Christmas.

Happy Holidays to you

Bailey

Giving Thanks

As I am preparing for the festivities about to take place in the next couple of days, I thought it appropriate to give a special moment of grace to you. Amid the fall neutrals, delightfully pungent aromas of feasts prepared meticulously with love, laughter well into the moonlit night, it is easy to forget what Thanksgiving is all about.

Certainly, it is a beautiful moment to reflect upon and celebrate all of the blessings bestowed upon us, but more than that, it is a moment of celebrating, acknowledging, and appreciating connections. Without them, there would be relatively nothing to celebrate. I want you to know that I appreciate the special connections I have created and will create with you. I want to give thanks for your ceaseless loyalty.

To you, I raise my glass.

It Appears I have a Second Shadow

It has come to my attention that someone has done the enormous courtesy of a compliment to me by attempting to steal my identity. Although I am flattered, I implore the imposter to perhaps consider the repercussions of such an extreme act of kindness. Not only are they presenting me with a slight difficulty (which I am almost certain isn’t their intent of course), but I imagine that someone looking forward to having the pleasure of meeting my acquaintance being awfully disappointed to discover that they are not, in fact, moi. Please…just don’t.

For your protection and continued satisfaction, it is important to know that I only advertise under the Bailey Keegan handle, therefore, if you see any extraneous ads with my photos, please alert them with the website’s web master and send me the link so that I can iron out the matter immediately.

Thank you. You are greatly appreciated.

35 Truisms That Couldn’t Be Truer..

General — Posted on October 26, 2010 at 12:41 am

I’m not the author of this post it was obviously written by a guy, I  but found it very funny :)  enjoy!

1. There is a great need for sarcasm font.

2. I can’t remember the last time I wasn’t at least kind of tired.

3. Bad decisions make good stories.

4. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

5. I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.

6. The only time I look forward to a red light is when I’m trying to finish a text.

7. The letters T and G are very close to each other on a keyboard. This recently became all too apparent to me and consequently I will never be ending a work email with the phrase “Regards” again.

8. A recent study has shown that playing beer pong contributes to the spread of mono and the flu. Yeah, if you suck at it.

9. Was learning cursive really necessary?

10. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.

11. Answering the same letter three times or more in a row on a Scantron test is absolutely petrifying.

12. Whenever someone says “I’m not book smart, but I’m street smart”, all I hear is “I’m not real smart, but I’m imaginary smart”.

13. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars teams up to prevent a dick from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers!

14. Every time I have to spell a word over the phone using ‘as in’ examples, I will undoubtedly draw a blank and sound like a complete idiot. Today I had to spell my boss’s last name to an attorney and said “Yes that’s G as in…(10 second lapse)..ummm…Goonies”

15. What would happen if I hired two private investigators to follow each other?

16. While driving yesterday I saw a banana peel in the road and instinctively swerved to avoid it…thanks Mario Kart.

17. MapQuest really needs to start their directions on #5. Pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

18. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

19. I find it hard to believe there are actually people who get in the shower first and THEN turn on the water.

20. Whenever I’m Facebook stalking someone and I find out that their profile is public I feel like a kid on Christmas morning who just got the Red Ryder BB gun that I always wanted. 546 pictures? Don’t mind if I do!

21. If Carmen San Diego and Waldo ever got together, their offspring would probably just be completely invisible.

22. Why is it that during an ice-breaker, when the whole room has to go around and say their name and where they are from, I get so incredibly nervous? I know my name, I know where I’m from, this shouldn’t be a problem….

23. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you’ve made up your mind that you just aren’t doing anything productive for the rest of the day.

24. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after DVDs? I don’t want to have to restart my collection.

25. There’s no worse feeling than that millisecond you’re sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

26. ‘m always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.

27. “Do not machine wash or tumble dry” means I will never wash this ever.

28. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.

29. I like all of the music in my iTunes, except when it’s on shuffle, then I like about one in every fifteen songs in my iTunes.

30. Why is a school zone 15 mph? That seems like the optimal cruising speed for pedophiles…

31. As a driver I hate pedestrians, and as a pedestrian I hate drivers, but no matter what the mode of transportation, I always hate cyclists.

32. Sometimes I’ll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.

33. It should probably be called Unplanned Parenthood.

34. I keep some people’s phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

35. I think that if, years down the road when I’m trying to have a kid, I find out that I’m sterile, most of my disappointment will stem from the fact that I was not aware of my condition in college.

Strict Machine

General — Posted on September 19, 2010 at 2:19 am

Imagine:

Two long, smooth, mahogany stems protruding from a pair of black 5-inch heels, striking in unison with the thud of your heartbeat. A long, slender body, scantily clad with ebony lace, two eyes, dark behind an unruly curtain of silky hair, piercing yours, straight to the base of your deepest, rawest desires. Red lips slowly sliding down…down…lower, until they graze your earlobe, whispering sacred verbs that echo and fall as you swallow…hard. The texture of leather sliding against your skin, against your sweat, against your heat.

Imagine you can’t have it until I say so.

Not Just a Pretty Face..

General — Posted on January 26, 2010 at 12:41 am

People expect pretty things to have all air and no sea.

To use the cliche “never judge a book by its cover” would be to understate the obvious. The substance of an individual should never be measured by their appearance…simply because one desires to project through visual expression of outward appearance the effort that has been made to better themselves, no one individual should ever determine they have no mental prowess to back their physique. It takes self discipline to achieve a result in any endeavor, and the promotion of a developed physical form is no exception. And lest anyone forget, one should know the true intellect of a person before determining their worth based on their decision to enhance their outward appearance. I for one have studied and read intensely my whole life, and to be judged by anyone simply based on how “pretty” I may or may not be perceived to be, I find appalling…

“A Rose by any other name, would still smell as sweet”…but remember…when reaching to pick one, it still has thorns sharper than a Tiger’s teeth…

John Lennon’s Dream.. Song of the day

General — Posted on September 2, 2009 at 11:35 pm

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

John was the lonely one, maybe one of the only ones … who really knew what would make the world a better place…

Happy Birthday…Rest in Peace my dearest Michael

A willow deeply scarred
Somebody’s broken heart
And a washed out dream
(Washed out dream)
They follow the pattern of the wind ya’ see
‘Cause they got no place to be
That’s why I’m starting with me

Happy Birthday…Rest in Peace my dearest Michael…you were such a wonderful talent, and as such…always so misunderstood, but you were the one that reminded us to look at the “man in the mirror” and see him looking back at us…

If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make that change

I’m much more shy than anyone just meeting me might think…and I know that probably sounds crazy to anyone that has known me a long time.  But, enjoying life has taken me places I wouldn’t have dreamed of before.
